A short list where to eat in Eindhoven

Eindhovens Rondje goes Eindhovens Small Round, or something like that ;)

Eindhovens Rondje goes international this time. And no, we're not going abroad or permanently switching to English. We love Eindhoven and the Brabants language!

But this blog is made just for the ever growing English community in Eindhoven. In addition to the many Dutch guys and gals living here, Eindhoven also has many international talents: working at our high-tech companies, studying abroad at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), living in our beautiful Eindhoven. We don't only notice this in the ever increasing diversity of cuisines, but also in the use of the English language on the streets. Of course, we can't stay behind.

ENGLISH HOTSPOT LIST

Especially for all our international followers we compiled an English shortlist of nice hotspots in Eindhoven. By definition this list is not complete, because Eindhoven has too much to offer. But hey, we have to start somewhere ;)

Foodiewithasuitcase made this English shortlist for us with food hotspots in Eindhoven.
These places are always a good idea and suitable for any occasion.

Le Cozy

French cuisine on the hip and happening Bergen in Eindhoven. Le Cozy offers you a nice bistro atmosphere, excellent to unwind after a long day of work or shopping. Sit down for a small bite and a good glass of wine or enjoy a cosy dinner. One of their best sellers: steak tartare prepare (a very original do it yourself version), try it and you’ll fall in love with it. Or what to think of their sardines on toast, or oysters pared with a good glass of wine. Wine tip: the Grand Ardéche of Maison Louis Latour.

Gusto is just outside the city centre of Eindhoven. You’re sure to get a big smile when entering this family-owned restaurant. The creativity and enthusiasm of the owners is reflected in their interior and in their menu (made from covers of old gramophone records). Gusto has a nice and cosy garden to dine outside in the summer, dressed up with atmospheric lights hanging in the trees and signs with funny sayings. Some days you can even enjoy some live music. During weekdays they have a special offer, the MaDiWoDo-Hap (translated: MoTuWeTh-Dish). Good, healthy comfort food for a very good price.

A quick bite at a fair price

Sometimes you don’t want to go all crazy for dinner. You just want to eat something small before you go to the movies, or fancy a quick bite after a long shopping spree. Luckily Eindhoven has more than enough to offer.

De Burger

The name says it all: You can get a nice juicy burger here. What to think about the Truffle Burger or The Hangover Burger. Top this off with some Chili Fries and you have a fulfilling comfort meal. This burger place has a wonderful urban vibe. It is relaxed, just as the people serving you. If you are really in a hurry De Burger is maybe not the ideal place, because you can’t reserve a table here. But order a special beer while you’re waiting at the bar and you’ll be seated in no time.

Trafalgar pub

The Trafalgar pub is always packed. This says something about the price-quality of this pub. You can have a good meal here for around 10 to 15 euros. The fact that they have a very extensive beer list, is also not too bad ;). Because this pub is so incredibly popular, you can almost never reserve a table on the day itself. Keep this in mind. The Trafalgar pub also has a nice courtyard in the back and a sunny terrace at the Dommelstraat, ideal for warm summer days. Cheers!

Enjoying lunch in the city

Eindhoven has a lot of places where you can shop till you drop: a giant Bijenkorf, a Primark, a vibrant city centre and lovely boutiques at the Bergen. The next locations are excellent for a well-deserved break.

Mangiare

Mangiare is still a hotspot in Eindhoven, after all those years. Imagine a sunny day, relaxing in the hidden garden with a cold glass of white wine and some delicious bruschetta. If needed, the garden can be covered and can be heated, very smart. This way you can enjoy the garden all year long. Of course there is always enough room inside, but the tables are a bit close together. Giving the restaurant a vibrant, Italian atmosphere.

Giornale offers you an Italian version in a hip industrial setting. You can pick your choices out of a news paper (Giornale is Italian for newspaper). Coquilles with couscous, creamy burrata, tenderloin, lamb chops, grilled tuna…almost too much choice. Don’t forget to try the dolce sharing, the best of all the deserts presented to you on a wooden plank. Please keep in mind: reserving a table is a must at this hotspot.

Their Peking duck, Asian oysters, soft shell crab buns and boneless ribs are definitely a must try. And that is just a very small selection of their menu. You can choose yourself or try their special menu and let the chef choose for you. Valenzia is part of the restaurant group of Michelin-star chef Adrian Zarzo, and you can taste this!
